Younger Consumers and Email

We at Branding Innovations Today understand email and what it brings to the table. But with the advent of social media on other sites, are younger customers over the use of email, instead opting to settle for these portals instead? The trends may not be what you think. In fact, you may be surprised to discover that the use of email, particularly from younger customers, has actually gone up. These increases have been steady over the past several years, and are expected to further increase over the course of the next five years, according to recent pieces of research.

The Expected Trends

It is surprising that the use of email is increasing in a time when social media networks are largely becoming a dominant presence in world marketing. The survey done was from 1,200 American consumers that use digital communication, with 274 from Generation Z (ages 13-21), 456 from the millennial group (ages 22-34), and 470 from Generation X (ages 35-50). 85% of the Gen Z group said that they used email in the past month, as did 89% of millennials and 92% of Gen X. Of the groups analyzed here, the only one that claimed a decrease in email usage was 20% of the Gen Z group, while everyone else has said it has increased or stayed the same. Of these groups, the majority of people involved say that they expect their email usage to increase as well.
